Caterinangela Fadda

Caterinangela Fadda

Her passion for music was born while listening to her mother playing the guitar. At the age of nine, she began her classical guitar studies with Armando Marrosu, with whom she graduated from the Conservatory of Music of Sassari (Sardinia) in 2001. During those years she participated in the “Emili Pujol” improvement courses in Cervera (Catalonia) and later on with other great guitarists such as Alberto Ponce, Fernando Rodriguez, Carles Trepat, Miguel Trápaga and Gianpaolo Bandini. She has won several national and international competitions in Italy, as well as being a concertista with various chamber music ensembles, including transcriptions of popular world music in her classical repertoire. In 2009, she finished her guitar postgraduate studies at the “Luthier School of Musical Arts” in Barcelona, where she currently teaches. She is part of the “Dinatatak” band, that mixes jazz, funk, ethnic rhythms, flamenco, theater and tap dance. With Dinatatak she organized a concert tour in the hairdressers and parlors of Barcelona, as a Creative Commons-alternative to the SGAE. She also played as a support group for Ojos de Brujo and took her project to several European festivals in Germany, France, Italy and Spain. In 2006 the duo “Violeta azul” was born, a tribute to Violeta Parra and all the women who fought in the 1960s in South America. In August 2010 she won along with the singer-songwriter Claudia Crabuzza the prize “Maria Carta” in Sardegna. She has participated in the recording of the following albums: “Nombres propios” with the band Dinatatak (composer and arranger), “Fil de coure” with the Catalan singer-songwriter Rusó Sala (composer, arranger and performer), “Mitofonie” by the Italian-French singer Dominique Fidanza (producer, arranger and performer), and “Com un soldat” by the singer from Almeria Claudia Crabuzza (arranger and performer of the song “Ernesto”). Since 2017 she has been part of the Gatticattivi guitar duo with Sardinian guitarist Carlo Doneddu. The Gatticattivi duo is a musical journey to the world of Spanish guitar from a perspective that addresses different musical styles beyond the classic, nourished by a long friendship and a deep love for music. She was awarded with the Tenco Prize “Rassegna della canzone d’autore di Sanremo” at the Italian Theater Ariston, an event she has been repeatedly invited to, highlighting that in 2016, together with Claudia Crabuzza, she won the Tenco Award for best disk in minority language. She has made the arrangements and performed them in the song “Cuídame” sung by Jorge Drexler and Pedro Guerra, which is part of the album “La marató de tv3”.
