Yulia Tsuranova was born in Moscow in 1979. She started playing the violin at age 6. In 1994 she began studying music at the Music School associated with the Moscow State Conservatory. While studying at the School of Music, she was a member of the Ensemble of Soloists of the International Foundation “New Names”. In 1998, Yulia won the International Contest of Soloists of Chamber Orchestras of Murcia, Spain. In 1998 Yulia entered the Moscow State Conservatory. There she studied for five years with Professor Olga Kaverzneva, first assistant to David Oistrakh, and studied string quartet classes with Professor Andrey Shishlov, first violin of the Schostakovitch Quartet. During her studies in Moscow, she participated in several masterclasses with professors such as Felix Andreyevsky (Royal Academy of Music of London), Irina Bochkova (State Conservatory of Moscow) and Devi Erlih (Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris). From 1999 to 2003 Yulia was a member of the Moscow Camerata Chamber Orchestra playing in the first violins section. From 2004 to 2011 Yulia played in the section of first violins in the Orchestra Remix (Porto, Portugal) and with the Clásica do Centro Orchestra (Coimbra, Portugal) where she played as co-principal of the first violins. She also collaborates with the Moscow State Philharmonic, Russian National Orchestra, Russian State Symphony Cinema Orchestra, Orquestra Nacional do Porto, Orquestra Gulbenkian, Orquestra Simfonica de Barcelona and Nacional de Catalunya, Orquestra del Gran Teatre del Liceu. Yulia is also a very active musician when it comes to Chamber Music. She often appears with various formations and string quartets as their first violin.
